The State of Quintana Roo is México top, international travel destination.

SOUTHERN QUINTANA ROO

One of México's best kept secrets, the area is a fascinating mix of jungles, lagoons, wetlands, coral reefs and pristine coastline.
CHETUMAL CITY, capital of Quintana Roo's state and border town par excellence is ideally located for trips neighboring Guatemala and Belize

On this side of the World is located

 COSTAMAYA AREA

 a very particular  astounding project.

Choose between: XCALAK

and surroundings, the best area of all arround for scuba diving sports and fly fishing, has at front, one of the must splendid points of MESOAMERICAN REEF, and close to San Pedro Ambergris, Belize, offer to you be away from crowded towns etc. etc.

MAJAHUAL, where crusiers ships stops, fun place.

UBERO with beautiful beaches, etc. etc.
Picture 100 miles of beaches five hours drive south of Cancún, open for low impact development with the blessing of the State and Federal Govermments. Costa Maya is unspoiled fishing and diving in proximity to major attractions like Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, Chinchorro Bank atoll and the inland archeological sites of Kohunlich, Dzibanché and Oxtankah

MAYAN WORLD

Quintana Roo is the gateway to the Maya World. Cancún, and the Riviera Maya are within easy traveling distance of sites in the Yucatán, and Chetumal, the state capital, with Campeche, Belize and northern Guatemala. Other Maya World destinations are accesible by plane from Cancun, Chetumal and Cozumel.

CHINCHORRO

reefs of legend,.......

"Chinchorro reef"

One hour and a half trip across a deep chanel is Chinchorro Bank (19 miles offshore), the largest coral atoll in the Americas and the Costa Maya's greatest attraction.
Spectacular coral formations amd abundant marine life aside, Chinchorro offers divers excitment few other reefs can match: it is a ship's graveyard. The sea floor is littered with the wrecks of vessels that have foundered on the coral over the centuries.

XCALAK INFRAESTRUCTURE

Xcalak-Chetumal Ferry Service in Xcalak side.

Existing highways  were recently upgraded and new roads linking Xcalak, Majahual,Tampalam, Río Indio, El Placer, Punta Pulticub, Sian Kan protected biosphere, Cafetal, Tulum, Chetumal, etc. respectivly, have been built. Electricity will be available along all Costa Maya corners; cables and poles are installed on the area. Fonatur has carried out an in-depht study on potential fresh water sources in the area, being the same with phone and other important services.
Airstrips were installed in Xcalak and a larger airport with a terminal, is now in place in Majahual.
Costamaya is now a cruise ship and yacht destination.

Two docks are in Xcalak: one fiscal dock and another one for the ferry service in Chetumal Bahía.
"Canal de Zaragoza" is the access chanel to Chetumal bay, being located in Xcalak south

CANAL DE ZARAGOZA

This "CANAL DE ZARAGOZA" IS THE ENTRANCE FROM CARIBBEAN SEA TO CHETUMAL BAY inside Mexican waters.

Being a Mexican Gubernamental project where will be installed marines, for fishing Yates protection coming from Caribbean Sea,plus Golf courts, Hotels, etc. This Zaragoza channel, allows to visit Chetumal city, Quintana Roo State capital, and you will find on the surroundings amazing archeological sites and more like Bacalar lagoon with beautiful colors, Guerrero lagoon, etc.

As you know, Xcalak National Park zone is one of the best in the World for scuba divers, because  at front runs the Mesoamerican Reef and Chinchorro Banks, being the second important  huge reef  on all the world with clear and warm tuquoise waters, being a great place for scuba divers.

  •   And, if we talk about  echotouristic importance inside  Mexico's Country plans referred to XCALAK  NATIONAL PARK specific plans, and Costa Maya: Canal de Zaragoza is the connection between Bahía de Chetumal and Caribbean Sea, inside Mexico.
  •
  •   Through this so important CANAL DE ZARAGOZA  will be crossing fishing boats which be coming from Caribbean Sea, letting it pass for to go inside the Bahía de Chetumal. And they need electricity regular service, for gasoline pumps, light services, etc. for pier's fishing boats and other important instalations on a near future time. Those fishing boats can be resguarded when it arrives to the Bahía de Chetumal, at  Xcalak side. Those docks installations, will  require a PUERTO DE ABRIGO, MARINA BOATS RESGUARD. Now, at this moment,  cables and poles are installed at the edge of the road Majahual to Xcalak and soon will be done on the road between Xcalak and Canal de Zaragoza. Marines, hotels, golf courts, telephone services, electricity, and more will be available on this area very soon.
On just a short explanation: Canal de Zaragoza is the connection between COSTA MAYA, CHETUMAL CITY, SAN PEDRO AMBERGIS BELIZE, LAGUNA DE BACALAR, ETC. ETC.

MESOAMERICAN REEF.

Crossing at front of the beach, beginning in Cabo Catoche, Yucatan Peninsula and ending in Honduras, C.A., is a faboulous place for scuba dive, enjoying different points on Xcalak surroundings, being LA POZA at front of Portilla location (close to Canal de Zaragoza) the only one reef on the World, not so deep with a large fishes variety making a real paradise on this corner of the Earth.

ENJOY THIS MEXICAN AREA WITH ADVENTURE AND QUIET PLACES TOO.
